I love your story about Halloween as a child. The good news is that the dldeay orange dye is gone, but the bad news is that since those days the amount of synthetic dyes being used in our foods has increased about 500%!Food dyes today are synthesized from petroleum — most start out in petroleum refineries in China — and are allowed to have toxic contaminants like lead, mercury and — yes, arsenic! They are just not supposed to have too much of these poisons. But since the dyes are used in such large quantities, there are more and more children who are experiencing their harmful effects. ADHD, asthma, hives, ear infections are the more obvious effects. But the Feingold Association’s web site (www.feingold.org) lists many research studies showing numerous examples of serous health damage. And very little research has considered what happens when you mix different dyes, preservatives, MSG, aspartame, etc. One notable study that did take a look found nerve damage was dramatically increased when two additives were combined. (Has anyone taken a look at a typical breakfast with the neon multi-colored cereal, fake orange juice, purple vitamins, fluorescent pink amoxycillin?)Happily, there are naturally colored candies readily available here in the United States. In Europe it’s much easier to find them since the European Union requires food companies to put warning labels on foods if they contain the major dyes.Today, most of the food dyes have been banned as health hazards, but the few stubborn survivors are being used in huge quantities…several hundred per day for a typical consumer. But nobody has to eat petroleum (and suffer the side effects). The nonprofit Feingold Association shows families how to find the Good Stuff.

Hi Sally,

Vivix is not suggested for under the age of 18. There are several things you can use from Shaklee to support your daughter's wellness. My brother with DS LOVES his Shaklee. Have you talked with your Shaklee sponsor to see what might be best for your daughter's needs? I usually ask the families I work with A LOT of questions before making recommendations for children :)

I'd be happy to chat with you...I just don't want to step on any Shaklee toes!

Hi Catherine
I just joined shaklee, but someone sent me your information because i have an 8 year old daughter who has Down syndrome. I was wondering which of the products might work well for her. I was particularly interested in the Vivix and would like to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks

Thanks for this! I feel exactly the same... 9 months ago I wasn't ready and didn't have the purpose or confidence that I have today. I can't wait to see what the future holds for all of us!

You are so very welcome! Supporting others to fulfill their passion is my dream "job". Shaklee is allowing all to use their vehicle to achieve what we need to in life to be happy.
It seems like such an achievable goal when you break it down per day! I now have an amount of what it would cost for us to get by and what it would cost to be living our dreams.

Setting a per day average of PV has really helped keep my business in perspective. A little pv per day goes a long way!

I love the thought of the cost of living per day. We always think about monthly costs but never break it down to daily.
