New Experiences at Navy Pier's Winter Wonderfest!

Parent Resources Travel

Life is about EXPERIENCES! At least that's part of what I'm determined to teach my girls. We usually skip the shopping, even at holiday time and save our pennies for new experiences. This year a trip into the city was the "big" gift under the tree.

Thanks to Groupon we got an awesome deal at a swanky hotel for two nights, attached to an awesome mall right on the Magnificent Mile. On Christmas morning the girls opened their gifts, which instructed them to pack for a trip into the city and Navy Pier's Winter Wonderfest!

Traveling on Christmas day is super easy. We've done it before and let's just face it, most people don't think to travel on Christmas day. They have other traditions, but this is becoming one of ours!  Fun fact... nothing was open for dinner on Christmas Day, EXCEPT - Dylan's Candy Bar! Thank goodness they had real food and we didn't have to eat candy for dinner (kids didn't know that I had protein bars if needed to get through, lol).

The day after Christmas is when the real fun began... Breakfast at the Walnut Room and then off to Navy Pier's Wonderfest!

From the countdown of the doors opening to the view at the top of the ferris wheel, this indoor wonderland was beyond our expectations!

There was definitely something for everyone from rides to snacks and even green smoothies for when you couldn't take another bite of yummy treats.

Families who have kiddos with a wide range of interests can definitely satisfy everyone at an event like this.  For this year, my kids were both on the same page of what they wanted to ride, but it hasn't always been like that!

Now... what to plan for next year... this year is going to be hard to beat!

Note: A big thanks to Navy Pier for providing us complimentary tickets to share our Wonderfest experience!
